What is our purpose?

To provide opportunities for self-improvement through progressive quality training in public speaking, business meeting procedures, communication and leadership skills.

Who are we?

SpeakOut is a South African non-profit educational organisation that offers an opportunity to:

·         Develop self-confidence.

·         Learn how to construct and deliver a speech.

·         Develop conversational skills.

·         Develop skills in public speaking.

·         Learn how to speak fluently at business meetings.

·         Learn how to run a business meeting.

·         Achieve recognition at work through the skills programme.

·         Meet similar-minded people who are conscious of the need for stimulation and self-development.

·         Develop your organisational and leadership skills.

·         Increase your social life and widen your circle of friends.

·         HAVE FUN!

How are we structured?

We are organised into clubs (at present in the Durban area) and these clubs are joined into a ‘council’. The clubs are small enough to ensure that every member has a regular opportunity to practise their skills, but large enough to provide a diversity of background knowledge and expertise.

What will you have to do?

§  You will progress at your own pace in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

§  You will gain valuable experience by active participation.

§  You will receive constructive evaluation of your performance, and also hear the evaluation of other members, which will assist in guiding you to continued growth.

§  You will be offered assistance with work or business related presentations, introductions of guest speakers, vote of thanks etc. that you may be asked to make.
