History of SpeakOut South Africa

SpeakOut Durban Club began in 1969 as an offshoot

of the International Toastmasters Clubs. It then became a member of the International Toastmistress Clubs, which changed its name in 1984 to International Training in Communication.

In 2004 the members decided that to make the clubs more affordable they would need to form their own ‘proudly South African’ organisation. A new name, logo and slogan were chosen and the clubs became known as SpeakOut.
